Farnborough, Hampshire, UK | Jul. 14, 2014
Internationally acclaimed aircraft modification specialist, Field Aviation, announced that two programs it is significantly involved with are being displayed at the Farnborough International Airshow, taking place in the UK during the week of July 14th, 2014.
The Boeing Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) is making its public debut and is on display at Farnborough. The MSA demonstrator, a Boeing owned Challenger 604 has been extensively modified by Field Aviation, a Boeing team member on the MSA program. Field Aviation's scope of work on the MSA is to provide a civil certified aircraft based on the Challenger platform incorporating installation provisions for various sensors including search radar, retractable EO/IR, ESM, COMINT and operator workstations and equipment mounts. Field Aviation carried out an extensive post modification ground and test flight program on the MSA demonstrator prior to its arrival at Farnborough.

On display in the Static Display area, next to Viking's Twin Otter Series 400, is a complete nose section for the Viking Twin Otter Guardian 400 that has been developed and built by Field Aviation for a Multi Role Surveillance Aircraft version of the aircraft. The MRSA modifications will allow the Guardian 400 to perform in a variety of roles without any major re-work, and the nose section includes 360 º search radar and a retractable EO/IR turret. A separate work station which will display the data Management System and integrated sensor inputs is on display adjacent to the nose section.

Modifications to the Boeing MSA demonstrator and the Guardian MRSA nose section were carried out at Field Aviation's production facilities at Toronto's Pearson International airport. The Boeing MSA and Guardian MRSA nose section are on display at the Boeing Defense and Viking Aircraft flight line static displays, respectively. Field Aviation's exhibit booth is located in Hall 4 C18b.
